The speech and writing competition in Korean language, organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Madagascar, in collaboration with the King Sejong Institute at the University of Antananarivo, and the Faculty of Humanities (FLSH), took place on Wednesday 22 June 2022 at Amphi 10 of the FLSH. The prize-giving ceremony for the winners was held on the same day in the presence of Mrs KIM. SOO BIN, representative of the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea in Madagascar, Mr KIM. DONG NYUN, Director of the King Sejong Institute in Antananarivo, as well as representatives of Korean language teachers from the University. Two themes were proposed, and each candidate had to choose one : "The cultural difference between Korea and Madagascar" and "My future, in 10 years". The competition aimed to highlight Korean and Malagasy cultures.

The winner of the speech, Chriss Noeline, is rewarded with a one-week linguistic and cultural stay in Korea next October by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Madagascar. A golden opportunity that she will seize to make her dreams come true. "Since my childhood, I have always admired Korean customs and culture. And after my high school diploma, I opted for the Korean language at the King Sejong Institute to fulfil my ambitions. I was able to acquire a lot of knowledge about the secret of Korea’s economic development and its know-how during my studies," said Chriss Noeline. As for the winners of the Korean language essay contest, the first elected, RAKOTOARIMANANA Mahery, won an iPad. The second, ANDRIANAVANONA Fehizoro Najoro, was awarded a giant teddy bear. The third prize was dedicated to AMBININTSOA Fifaliana Olivianne Annà, with a pretty gourd as a gift, and this prize-giving was carried out on Friday 14 June.

The Korean government has set up a Korean department at the University of Antananarivo, to offer an opportunity for students who love the language to have a certificate issued by the Institute so that they can be authorised to teach the Korean language in high schools and other institutions. Mr KIM. DONG NYUN, the Director of the King Sejong Institute encourages young people to study the Korean language because currently Korean companies and the Korean Embassy in Madagascar open their doors to those who are talented and passionate about the language. He also invites young people to visit Korea to discover its economic growth and cultural value. Three hundred participants from all over the world competed in this year’s challenge, but those who were the best were able to acquire their trophies. The winners of the King Sejong Institute in the world will be gathered during their one-week stay in Korea in October 2022.
